Linux Foundation ranked OpenStack® as the most popular open source project. It’s market is projected to grow at 30+ percent in the upcoming several years. OpenStack is gaining  more and more attraction in private cloud market and also serves as the foundation for public clouds. Organisations throughout the world have aggressive OpenStack adoption plans, but they list IT skills as their #1 challenge to getting started.

This course has been designed for IT professionals seeking to get started with OpenStack and cloud computing. First section starts with some background information about cloud computing. Cloud delivery types such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS as well as deployment types such as public, private and hybrid clouds will be covered in that section. This is followed by an overview of OpenStack, where it’s core projects as well as architecture will be introduced. After the overview there is a section that covers each of the 6 OpenStack core projects (Keystone, Glance, Neutron, Nova, Cinder and Swift) as well as the Horizon dashboard.

The final section includes a demo where you can see the latest release of OpenStack(Ocata) in action. In that section we’ll take everything from scratch and start by creating a user and a project.  After completing all the prerequisites including the ones related to networking, security and storage, you’ll see how to launch virtual instances, test and validate them. This is where you can see all the core services of OpenStack in action and will have a better understanding about what each of them does.
