FREE Introduction to CAD and CAE using Fusion 360 course coupon

Learn fundamental CAD and CAE skills through a series of lessons using Fusion 360, a cloud based CAD/CAM tool.

Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software tools are essential to the engineering design, analysis, and manufacturing process. This course teaches fundamental CAD and CAE skills through a series of lectures and exercises using Fusion 360, a cloud based CAD/CAM tool. This course is based on the Introduction to CAD/CAE tools course currently taught by Adjunct Professor Sualp Ozel at Carnegie Mellon University, PA.

The twelve week course uses Autodesk Fusion 360 to develop skills in conceptual design and 3D modeling, technical documentation, engineering simulations, and computer aided manufacture (CAM). Each week provides comprehensive lecture presentations and hands on exercises such as designing a plastic air cover to assembling a small robot and performing static or thermal simulations on part designs.

This course is designed for anyone interested in developing their knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE, and for instructors requiring introduction to CAD instruction for their students.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

Contents and Overview

This course provides 12 weeks of lecture presentation and hands-on exercises introducing CAD/CAE using Fusion 360. Each week includes comprehensive lecture presentations and project exercises that include step by step video instruction and software datasets, as well as assessments and instructor resources.

The Introduction to CAD/CAE starts with instruction in sketching techniques essential for capturing conceptual design ideas. Next, you are introduced to Fusion 360, starting with 3D part creation, then progressing to complex part design and assemblies. Each week provides you with project exercises in which you use Fusion 360 parametric or direct modeling features to create a 3D model or assembly.

After learning the basics of part and assembly design, additional lectures and hands-on projects guide you through the process of creating photorealistic renderings and technical drawings–both of which are essential to communicating design aesthetics, function, and manufacturing detail.

Lastly, you complete the engineering design process using Fusion 360 to perform thermal and static simulations, completing the course using Fusion 360 CAM to create toolpaths and NC code for part manufacture.

Upon completing this course, you will have obtained knowledge and skills in Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software to take a design idea from concept to prototype and manufacture
